Bulldogs win 2nd consecutive Atlantic Junior Championship

The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs are the Don Johnson Memorial Cup Winners for a second consecutive year after a hard fought 3-2 win over the Kensington P.E.I. Vipers in Mt. Pearl, NFLD Sunday afternoon.  It also marked the second consecutive year the Vipers lost to the Bulldogs by a single goal in the championship game.

Cameron Bell opened the game’s scoring for Antigonish only 2:17 into the opening period and it stayed that way until Max Chisholm tied it for the Vipers at 1-1 with only 55 seconds left in the first period.  Kensington went up 2-1 after forty minutes on a goal from Chandler Desroches only 2:23 into the middle period but that was all the scoring the Vipers would manage as the Bulldogs rallied for two third period goals from the always reliable Venel Campbell and Ethan Twolan to win it 3-2.  The Bulldogs outshot the P.E.I. Championship team 44-25 and by periods of 14-5, 15-8 and 15-12.

A great week of Junior B Hockey organized by both local Mt. Pearl Junior Hockey executives and Newfoundland Hockey Executives.
